Reviewing procedure

The articles submitted to the JMMB for possible publication will be the first subject to the Editor-in-Chief’s evaluation. As we receive more manuscripts than we can publish, we are forced to select those we believe will interest the broadest possible section of our readership and represent a significant breakthrough of general interest to the community.
All new manuscripts are first evaluated against criteria that include: compliance with the mission statement of the journal, perceived quality, and novelty of the work, and potential interest to the readership of JMMB.
As a result of this screening, we decline about 70% of submissions without further review. The authors will receive the results of this screening quickly after submission (after one week).
After the Editor-in-Chief’s evaluation (screening), the articles undergo a peer-review process (single-blind peer review) by at least three reviewers that are experts in the area of the particular paper. Referees will be invited to review each submission. The choice of reviewers is at the Editors’ discretion. All of the reviewers of a manuscript remain anonymous to the authors before, during, and after the evaluation process. All of the reviewers of a paper act independently and they are not aware of each other’s identities.
The reviewers’ evaluation form contains a checklist in order to help referees cover all aspects that can decide the fate of a submission. In the final section of the evaluation form, the reviewers must include observations, suggestions, and required modifications aimed to improve the submitted manuscript. The reviewers’ evaluation forms are sent to authors, without the names of the reviewers with the final decision considering the papers’ acceptability for publication in the JMMB.
The articles that have passed the reviewing process and are accepted will be published in one of the following issues. However, Editor-in-Chief has the last word concerning the issue in which each paper will be published. Also, Editor-in-Chief can, at his sole discretion, decide not to publish a paper. Authors of the papers will have to sign a copyright agreement before the proofs of the papers become available online.

Authors’ responsibilities

Authors warrant that their manuscripts are their original works, that they have not been published before, and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Parallel submission of the same paper to another journal constitutes misconduct and eliminates the manuscript from further consideration. The work that has already been published elsewhere cannot be reprinted in the Journal of Mining and Metallurgy B: Metallurgy.
Authors are exclusively responsible for the contents of their submissions. The authors affirm that the article contains no unfounded or unlawful statements and does not violate the rights of third parties.
Authors must make sure that their author team listed in the manuscript includes all and only those authors who have significantly contributed to the submitted manuscript. If persons other than authors were involved in important aspects of the research project and the preparation of the manuscript, their contribution should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
It is the responsibility of the authors to specify the title and code label of the research project within which the work was created, as well as the full title of the funding institution. In case a submitted manuscript has been presented at a conference in the form of an oral presentation (under the same or similar title), detailed information about the conference shall be provided.
The authors warrant that they did not use generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process of the manuscript or for the creation or modification of images.
Authors are required to properly cite sources that have significantly influenced their research and their manuscript. Parts of the manuscript, including text, equations, pictures, and tables that are taken verbatim from other works must be clearly marked, e.g. by quotation marks accompanied by their location in the original document (page number), or, if more extensive, given in a separate paragraph.
Full references of each quotation (in-text citation) must be listed in a separate section (Literature or References) in a uniform manner, according to the citation style used by the journal. References section should list only quoted/cited, and not all sources used for the preparation of a manuscript.
When authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the Editor-in-Chief and cooperate with him/her to retract or correct the paper.
Authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might have influenced the presented results or their interpretation.
By submitting a manuscript the authors agree to abide by the Editorial Policies of the Journal of Mining and Metallurgy Section B: Metallurgy.
